Timely examination by a gynecologist helps to identify the features of the girl’s development in the early stages and, if necessary, solve problems with reproductive health. The first examination and ultrasound are conducted in the age of 14-16 years.
A gynecological examination of a girl is carried out exclusively in the presence of one of the parents or representatives of the child.
Consult with the pediatric gynecologist if your daughter is concerned about vaginal discharge with unusual color or smell, itching, burning, discomfort in the genitals or when urinating. Pay attention to excessive hair growth on the legs, face, chest, or, conversely, delayed sexual development.
If a girl has already had sex, she should be examined without delay.
Irregular menstruation for a year, the absence of menstruation for more than 2 months or after 14 years, a cycle duration of fewer than 21 days or more than 35 days, painful menstruation, too heavy or prolonged discharge (longer than 7 days) may also cause an appeal to a pediatric gynecologist.
